Following Media Guardian’s piece on “The internet is killing newspapers. What a bunch of spam, says Tina Brown” I say general daily news sections of printed newspapers need to be rethought, because that’s where the Internet does it better.
Breaking news online is the ice-breaker, the facts and initial reactions out there already.
The next day the printed news needs to find a way to follow-up giving a different perspective, a visual experience in print that couldn’t be experienced online, more thoughtful objective comment pieces on the wider issues, instead of reprinting what everyone has already read (or heard on radio or watched on TV news, for they play a part in the new media consumption dynamic).
Now is the time for reinvention of the news- part of newspapers
